What not to do if you want your child to think you're a cool parent

A customer came in with his son. The boy needed a watch and my co-worker helped them pick out a watch. The watch needed some links taken out for the boy which always takes a few minutes to do. While working on the watch, my co-worker ask the boy if he was still on spring break. He says no. His dad says "Oh he's out sick" and shares a wink with his healthy looking son.

I swear not 30 seconds later the dad looks up and says "Hey I think that's one of your teachers over there!" And then he proceeds to wave at her while the boy tries to hide behind a display with "shut up dad" written all over his face.

Really now, what kind of dork helps his kid play hookey and then goes and rats him out?
