I deal with rude and sucky customers daily and it usually doesn't get to me (well ok I usually go home with a hell of a headache but who doesn't?). The people I had to deal with today really got to me.

First off was the weird lady who demanded, not asked, demanded which strength of the reader's glasses we sell was right for her. She would not accept every polite variant of "How the heck would I know. They're *your* eyes." that I could think of. Then she wanted me to somehow move an entire pegboard display of eyeglass cases to her because she "Didn't want to walk over there". It was like 10 feet from her.

Next came the lady who walked up to my counter and told me to page a personal shopper for her. I informed that we never had (and never will) personal shoppers. She said "Well I've been shopping here a long time." The rational part of my mind that knows I can't afford to get fired kept me from saying "So?". I must admit I was evil and directed her to the customer service desk. Later in the day I was in the break room and overheard a customer service associate ranting about the crazy lady who wanted a personal shopper.

The highlight of my day came when my manager had to go to another store and my other co-worker had to go to lunch. This leaves me alone for at least an hour. I have no problem with this. As long as I can keep the customers from piling up, I can keep things running smoothly. I manage to keep things going like clockwork for a whole ten minutes then I get a lady with a return.

It takes almost to get someone to approve the return. Meanwhile, about four more customers show up and we are not allowed to walk away from one customer until they are done with us. The return finally gets approved and I go to the next customer while tossing apologies to everyone else for the long wait. I really do hate to keep people waiting.

My heart sinks when I realize the next customer in line wants to place a special order. These can take a while if the customer doesn't know exactly what they want yet. The lady wanting the special order tells me that she needed to order a portrait on gold pendant. These are heart-shaped gold pendants that have people's pictures etched onto them. The lady says that she had been here earlier and knew what she wanted. She had even returned with her picture and money for the deposit.

Now I'm thinking "Cool this should go quickly at least and I can whittle down this line." I have a pen in hand ready to write down what she wanted when one of the other women waiting comes up and asks if there is any way I could call in some back up as there are a lot of people waiting. Again, I apologize and tell her that there is no one (I was feeling really bad for everyone waiting).

The woman with the special order (who from here on out will be referred to as crazy b*tch) gets this funny look on her face and says "Why are people in such a hurry? I don't care if they have to wait. I can take my time if I want to." Suddenly, the crazy b*tch who knew what she wanted turns into the queen of indecision. She asks the same questions over and over before I get her to order the pendant she came in to order. I have to ask for her contact name and number three times before she will answer me.

When I ask for her photo for the order, she pulls out a small pile of identical pictures, studies each one intently and asks me which one was the best one. She changed her mind at least fifty times over what she wanted the back engraving to say. When I finally get the order form filled out and try to get her required signature on it, she goes off on a tangent about how Taco Bell employes always try to work too fast.

When I finally herd the crazy b*tch and her daughter to the register to take her deposit, she decides that she shouldn't pay anything because Sav-On’s watch special orders don't require one. By now I'm getting glared at by everyone else and my phone is ringing off the hook. I keep loudly apologizing to everyone for the very long wait and giving the crazy b*tch a pointed look. The crazy b*tch kept saying "I don't care if people have to wait. I'm in no hurry." To which I kept saying "I'm by myself and it will only take one of them complaining to get me into a lot of trouble." *insert meaningful glance at crazy b*itch* And she kept saying how she was sooooo sorry that I was going to get into trouble.

I finally get the crazy b*tch's deposit, I hurriedly thank her and tell her to (f*ck off and die) have a nice day. And she says "Don't go anywhere I'm not done with you yet. All those people can just wait." She wanted to see some rings I start to tell her that she can browse and to call me if she really wants to look at anything (damn the one customer at a time rule) when she insists that she needs to see a ring *NOW*. And I swear she was pointing to stuff at random. I show her the rings and manage to make them disappear from sight the moment something distracted her. She then asks her silent daughter to tell me what it was that she wanted to see. The daughter said that there wasn't anything she wanted to see and crazy b*tch shouts "YES THERE IS!"

So I spend a few more hellish minutes trying hard to get rid of crazy b*tch and she knew I was trying to get rid of her. Finally she goes "Well I wanted you to show me some chains but *people* are *waaaaiting*." I run away from her to the next poor customer who had been waiting very patiently. The poor customer stared after the crazy b*tch who was walking away and said that she couldn't believe that anyone would make other people so long like that on purpose. When my co-worker came back from lunch, she took one look at picture that the crazy b*tch left with her order and remembered her. She was psycho to my co-worker too and she ended up walking away from the counter. It takes a lot to upset my co-worker that much.

To top it off, our store is going through a remodel and they were testing the very loud alarms at random intervals all through the day. Yeah I came home a little grumpy today.
